WHO WE ARE~WHAT WE ARE

We are: TRUE VELVET: The Spirit of the Woods, Bourbon Creamed Liqueur now available in three exciting new flavors comes to you from the efforts of The Red Deer Spirits Corp. of New York and Ireland.

Matured to Perfection: Having witnessed significant transformation over the years in the beverage space the Company recognized an opportunity to introduce a new bold and dynamic, bespoke collection of specially blended and aged Creamed Bourbons to Market. The Founders are composed of a handful of highly dedicated and supportive teammates, along with their esteemed work partners, who tirelessly have worked to turn this unique vision into a reality.

Whiskey Wisdom: Building on centuries-old traditions, creamed whiskies actually date back to the 17th century when “Milk Punch” was primarily used as a medicinal elixir vs. the leisurely delicious decadent product you’ll find on the shelves today. The drink was recorded in Wiliam Sacheverell’s 1698 travelogue of the Scottish Isle of Iona. The first recipe for Milk Punch appeared in a cookbook in 1711. Originally served in a punch bowl, Benjamin Franklin shared his own personal recipe to a friend of his James Bowdoin in 1763, where he used brandy and lemon added to hot milk.! In ancient Celtic days, the Rowan tree, often seen as the tree of protection, (particularly against witches and enchantment’s) branches, were carved into wooden ladles to stir the cream, purportedly prevented it from curdling or being spoiled or stolen!

Today, Cream and Creamed Liqueurs have come a long way.

While the methods of making creams may have changed, many of the old traditions have remained the same. The attention to detail and quality is unchanged, and its spirit lives on. The beverage is now considered a specialty liqueur which combines cream with a distilled spirit such as whisky or brandy, together with various natural flavorings and sweeteners.

The result is a creamy, delicious drink with a smooth texture and sweet, indulgent taste-True Velvet!

Today, The Red Deer Spirits Company, with its latest brand True Velvet seeks to set the standard in creamed whiskies. Look for True Velvet at your nearest favorite Spirits Shop this fall 2025, where one will be able to savor this specialty liqueur.

True Velvet are currently available in 750ML glass bottles and contain a distinctive array of fresh natural ingredients such as Wisconsin Dairy Cream, Premium Barrel-Aged Kentucky Straight Bourbon, All-Natural Madagascar Vanilla Bean flavors, Rich, Belgian Milk-Chocolate flavorings, Fine Caramel flavors, Exotic Blends of Fine Latin Espresso Coffee extracts, and more.

Tasting Notes: Characteristics of True Velvet:

We are of the belief that Bourbon pairs better with cream than does Irish Whiskey. Creamed, yet still tasting the deep nuanced flavors of Bourbon. As a result, we’ve blended the finest Kentucky Straight Aged Bourbon with our fresh Dairy Cream and fine Espresso. Before taking your first sip, one will immediately take in the complex aroma of True Velvet. One sip and your taste buds will detect an array of complex flavors. The palate will immediately detect True Velvet’s signature “whiskey burn’, followed then by a creamy, velvety rich sweet texture, unveiling hints of chocolate, caramel, vanilla and spice, then finishing with a remarkable undeniably bold sweetness that your mouth will savor for some time to come. Each of our flavors work well for most any season of the year.
